Care Guide

At Amei Vintage, we want you to get the most out of your clothes, so we've put together a simple guide to help you take care of your vintage garments.

Washing and Cleaning

Frequently washing your clothes can damage the fibres, so consider washing your clothes at a slightly lower frequency.

Spot cleaning is an easy and more environmentally friendly way to remove marks and stains, but if a full wash must be done, we recommend washing your pieces at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle or hand washing them.

Steaming items made with sturdier fabrics like cotton, linen and denim can also be a great way to remove odours and eliminate wrinkles.

For delicate fabrics such as silks, satins, and embroidery, it may be best to find a reputable dry cleaner who will care for your garments. Just make sure to bring up the delicacy of the items so they know to be especially careful.

Storing

Keep vintage clothes in a dry place away from direct sunlight, as humidity can damage the fibres and encourage mould, and sunlight can fade patterns and fabrics.

Items that are knitted, heavy, or heavily embellished should be folded instead of hung so as to not distort their shape, and can be wrapped in acid-free tissue paper or stored in a box for protection.
